Despite the many eyes, the bee cannot see red, but can perceive colors in the ultraviolet range. They recognize color patterns on the petals, which, in a sense, show them where to land. For example, rapeseed flowers, which are yellow to us, look patterned to bees. In contrast, bees see white flowers in color.
